Lower Laberge to Carmacks – 6 Days of Yukon Wilderness Adventure
Embark on a legendary 217 km canoe journey through one of the most breathtaking stretches of the Yukon River! A scenic floatplane flight whisks you from Whitehorse to the remote end of Lake Laberge, where your adventure begins on the iconic “30 Mile River”—renowned for its crystal-clear waters, rich history, and incredible fishing.
Far from civilization, paddle through untouched wilderness, setting up camp in pristine nature under the vast northern sky. As the fire crackles, share tales of the Klondike Gold Rush, reliving the spirit of past adventurers. Keep your eyes on the shoreline—you may spot a majestic moose or a powerful grizzly watching from the wild.
This unforgettable canoe expedition blends history, wildlife, and raw Yukon beauty into the ultimate wilderness escape!
Day 1: Touchdown in the Wild
Your guide will greet you in Whitehorse in the morning before heading to the floatplane base at Schwatka Lake. After loading our gear, we take off for a breathtaking 30-minute flight following the Yukon River and Lake Laberge to our starting point at Lower Laberge.
Upon arrival, we set up camp and explore the historical remains of what was once a bustling trading post.
Days 2 to 6: Paddling Through History and Wilderness
Each morning starts with a hearty Yukon-style breakfast before we embark on our canoe journey down the mighty Yukon River.
- Day 2: We paddle along the legendary 30 Mile River, reaching Hootalingua—the confluence of the Teslin and Yukon Rivers. Here, we take a short hike to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the vast river delta.
- Days 3–5: We fully embrace wilderness life—paddling through breathtaking landscapes, gathering wood for campfires, and trying our luck at fishing. A freshly caught fish is always a welcome treat!
- Day 6: After five days deep in the wild, we arrive at Carmacks, the end of our canoe trip. A scenic drive along the Klondike Highway brings us back to Whitehorse, where we bid farewell to an adventure that will stay with us forever.
