As September arrives, the Takhini Valley bursts with colour — golden birch, fiery willow, and spruce-lined shores reflected in sparkling water. Paddle through this glowing landscape as the river carries you steadily downstream toward its meeting with the mighty Yukon River.
Perfectly located near the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, this trip pairs seamlessly with a visit to see muskox, moose, and mountain goats — animals often more active in the crisp autumn air.
Bring your own snacks and drinks, and don’t forget sunglasses, a warm jacket, and a sense of adventure. The Takhini in fall offers more splash, more scenery, and more magic — all in just half a day.
🕘 Daily Schedule
The Takhini River Express departs daily at 10:00 AM and finishes at the pull-out point around 2:00 PM.
Guests have two convenient options for joining the adventure:

🏕 Meet at Yukon Wide Basecamp: Arrive by 9:45 AM for your check-in and gear orientation.

🚌 Shuttle from Whitehorse: Let us pick you up downtown at 9:15 AM for a round-trip transfer. (+$60 flat rate)
From Basecamp, we’ll head to the put-in together, ensuring you’re set up and ready to enjoy this exciting half-day paddle.
