Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Whitehorse
Welcome to the Yukon! Arrive in Whitehorse and take advantage of the free hotel shuttle to your downtown accommodation. That evening, you’ll meet your expert guide and fellow hikers for a tour briefing. We’ll go over the gear, safety protocols, and answer all your questions before heading into the wild.
Day 2 – Transfer to Kluane and Trail Start
After breakfast, we head west along the Alaska Highway to Kluane National Park. The hike begins at Kathleen Lake or Mush Lake Road (weather and route conditions dependent). We’ll start with a scenic hike through boreal forest and rolling hills before setting up camp near a quiet creek.
Distance: ~12 km
Day 3 – Into the Mountains
Today we ascend into the alpine. With panoramic views of the Kluane Range, we’ll traverse wildflower meadows and cross crystal-clear streams. The day’s destination is a sheltered valley framed by towering peaks.
Distance: ~14 km
Day 4 – Tundra and High Passes
The trail continues over scenic passes, offering one of the most stunning days of the trek. Keep your eyes out for mountain sheep, marmots, and even bears in the distance. We’ll camp near a tundra basin with wide views and a quiet atmosphere.
Distance: ~16 km
Day 5 – Descent into the Valley
Descending back toward the valley floor, we’ll pass ancient glacial moraines and vibrant wetlands. Expect to hear loons calling across the lakes and enjoy a relaxed evening by the campfire.
Distance: ~15 km
Day 6 – Final Stretch and Return to Whitehorse
Our final hiking day brings us through forested trails as we close the loop. We’ll reach the trailhead by afternoon and drive back to Whitehorse for a well-earned rest and celebration dinner (not included).
Distance: ~14 km
Day 7 – Departure Day
